2nd ride today on the Jotagas

10/27/2013

Today the 27th of October 2013 i rode my new Jotagas JTG 300 for the 2nd time. I rode it at a nearby Bognor Mcc club trial near Rogate.
This trial consisted on loamy leafy ground with lots of steep banks and hill with tree roots to keep you busy and on your toes. This is only the second time ive ridden the bike , as i hurt my left knee in enduro. It has taken a while to recover but seeing as im only 21 i healed quickly ;).

Im really glad to report that i love the bike to bits. Ive fitted a slow throttle tube , and higher Jitsie bars( which i probably didnt need to fit).  I rode the bike around prior to the start of the trial and it felt good but i wanted to try the bars back a bit. I then moved the bars back from their forward position that everyone seems to ride with these days . This sealed the deal. Weight was now transferred to the rear wheel and i was getting so much more grip. The bars are in line with the forks and its just feels more neutral.  I now feel like a bit of a dork for not trying this earlier , but i was convinced the power was coming in much stronger than the 13 bike causing it to spin up on me. This isnt the case . Im chuffed to bits with it feel very happy with it.

A couple of friends were at the trial with their 2014 Ossa 300 and 2014 Sherco 300 Caby limited edition model. We all swapped bikes to try each others out.

I swang my leg over the Ossa first. You push the red button on the bars once and this primes the ignition. The Ossa started straight away. I then rode a section on it.  The engine feels so so so so silky smooth its unreal. It carberates brilliantly and perfectly. The engine sounds raspy like the old Yamaha TYZ's which i like. The engine feels as though its a real short stroke. It runs so smoothly all the way through the revs. This definitely helps massively getting grip. Any thump thump thump of a piston being thrown down the cylinder is not there. This is this bikes major win  , its grip and smoothness. Suspension felt excellent and very firm but it was still wearing in as this was its first trial.

When you ride it , it feels as though to much of the tyre is uncovered by the front mudguard , but im sure its not. Handling felt top. It felt a real nice bike. The engine was its major trump card.

I then rode the Sherco Cabestany replica 2014 300.  It started straight away . I like the kick start movement, well out the way of anything when you swing. The engine runs great and feels powerful. The suspension is firmer and although it was bouncy stationary , when you went over roots its went firm all of a sudden. It tracked ace. The engine was nice and smooth , although not as smooth as the Ossa. This bike is very very nice and very capable . Nice light controls and the steering felt great. There was less to say about it because less stood out as being exceptional like that Ossa smoothness. Dont get my wrong , im picking hairs here, this is a spot on bike.

I only rode the Ossa and the Sherco for a few minutes so take that as you will .

I hate it when magazines say this  , but its true. "The bikes are all very very good and its difficult to split them and comes down to personal preference ".

My Jotagas to me feels lighter. The engine is smooth and finds great grip. Everything works brilliantly. Im being impartial here.......given the choice again to buy any of the three bikes ......id honestly still by the Jotagas :)
