page 5  Francisco    Paya    and    the    1987    JP    325    Trial

the    history    of   the     JP    325    Trial

The production of the JP Trial bike commenced in 1987 and lasted just three years, with the last bike being produced in 1990.

In total only 100 units were produced and these were all assembled  in the Ronda President Macia, Mataro repair shop. Fransesc said that it was a very busy place. They continued to repair customers bikes in addition to have small assembly line of motorcycles being produced.

Only the crazy (not me) Retro fan will know that there were two JP models. Both models were very similar to the one another, however the models differences were in the front and rear mud guards. The initial bikes were produced by JONEI and were typical that might be equipped to motorcycles such as the Sherpas, Ossas and Merlin's. The second model was fitted with Acerbis mud guards similar to that fitted to GasGas.

The JP 325 was the only JP produced. Strangely, it was unveiled at the 1986 German motorcycle show.

Here is the joint creator of the JP, Fransesc Paya.

This immaculate 1988 JP 325 has not been restored. It is brand new and has never ever been started or ridden at all. The paint and everything about it is 100% original. It has been on display in the Barcelona Motorcycle museum, which is where I first saw it.

The JP bikes were fitted with Villa Motaban engines being bought directly from the manufacturer, however when Villa went bust and GasGas took over production of the same engine, GasGas became the new supplier.

All the JP's from 1987 through to 1990 were fitted with the same petrol tank.

Original paint and lacquer. It has hardly turned a wheel.
