the restoration and rebuild
The forks are rubbed down and finished beautifully.
The engine casings and barrel again have been rubbed down well and painted well. I can see that this is not a home aerosol paint job. It is to good for this. For the best results you must use professional heat resistant paint and apply using a spray gun running from a compressor.
The engine was not going really well and had to revise completely. I sprayed it with graphite color, because the rough color didn´t fit to all the new shiny looking parts at all. I wanted to get the engine responding by modern standards, so I did a lot of modifications to get the right result. |
After a close inspection of the engine , it is reassembled with new bearings and seals.
The engine is finished it silk paint. It looks very good. Its always nearly impossible to sand and clean between the fins on the barrel. Either you have a lot of time , or a sand blaster :)
The head again , looks excellent, but you must change the spark plug :)
Here are the original yellow reeds which will be very old and brittle. You can see the new carbon petals ready for installation.
The engine modifications Sascha completed were - "The engine was not going really well and had to revise completely.
I sprayed it with graphite color, because the rough color didn´t fit to all the new shiny looking parts at all.I reduced the centrifugal mass and exchanged the double stage membranes with single carbon membranes."
I saw that the standard membranes where standing open a few tenth. It caused that the fuel air mix went backwards always when the piston got down.
The fuel evaporatedand and left over the oil which you can see on the picture with the rubber tube.
That problem was solved with the fully closed carbon membranes.

I´m really happy about this lovely silencer of the ´87 model. Even in the years past I loved it, because Tarres also used it on his later Zero models.
I disassembled the silencer and brushed it for almost one hour, and the result made me smile.
I repacked it with stone wool and by doing this it was ready to install.
Sascha busy drilling out everyone of the holes filled with gunge

It was worth it. Just look at the results.
Anyone would be very happy with the end result
