Back to the nuts and bolts. They were all in an aweful state and covered in 30 years of muck . Yes 30 years. Hasnt time flown by .
It only seems like yesterday.
What could i do with them ?. This front wheel spindle was seized in place so well withing the forks and hub that i had to attack it like a caveman banging it out like a frenzied murder . Unfortunately it caused this damage, which i will have to sort ha ha. There was no other option. Thats the excuse im sticking to ...anyway :).

Here are the nuts and bolts etc from my Halley along with a selection of items from my other GasGas enduro bike.

Dirty , dirty ,dirty things. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

So they needed a clean first , but then i took them a few miles away to a zinc plater .

2 days later i collected them . Woweee !!!. The plater charges one price only . £40 to plate up to a full bucket of steel.
The man is a magician. He turns rubbish to perfection.

Getting the bolts back from the plater is always one of the highlights for me. Seeing a little bling , just brings a smile to my face :).

Theyre back from Spain . Yipeeee. Custom made stainless steel spokes with plated steel nipples. £104 posted to my door. That's a huge 50% saving.

I love the newpaper. The King of Spain has recently stood down and handed over the reigns to his son. This colourful Spanish paper commemorates it. Thank you Catalonia.

Now to start the re lacing of the wheels, starting with the rear.

You are about to witness one enormous cock up ............

Lacing wheels is not the art that the wheel lacers try and tell you it is . Its really very simple.  It might be a two steps forward andone step back process , but you will get there in the end and you will have the satisfaction of doing it yourself and also have saved yourself £50.

The first thing to realise is that you may have up to 3 different lengths of spokes in one wheel .

Im not going to go into the ins and outs of lacing a wheel because youll quickly nod off  . I learnt it from youtube and i advise you do the same .

Now onto the front wheel. The front wheel was very easy in comparision with the rear wheel . This was simple because of the way the hub end of the spokes just hooked in. Nice design Akront - thank you :).
