More welding was needed here on the inside of the clutch cover.
The top piston ring was broken so a new one from a Bultaco 325 was sourced from Bultaco Uk. The flywheel nut on the right , looks almost home made.
The engine went back together easily , however the kick start spring snapped . This took me a day to heat , and unroll the correct amount of spring to enable it to locate it in the correct holes again.
New headstock bearings were needed and this photo just shows the first stage of the cleaning and rubbing down. I literally spent a day just preparing these peices for paint.
I was tempted to rub down the frame to the bare metal in all places , however experience has shown me that this just inst necessary and that if the exisiting paint is sound this can be painted on once keyed up. Captive nuts that had seized in the rear mudguard loop needed drilling out and new nuts welding in place. Al also needed to clean up the area around the rear new silencer mounting lug.
Now it about time to head to my little spray shop. I really should change the filters on this mask. Oh well , ill just have to remember not to breathe to much.
