Page 4- Interview with Francesc Tarres + meet Pol and Jordi's father at home.
We went up the driveway and turned left along the front garden. To the left hand side of the house the land is triangular
shaped and goes to a point at the furthest point from the house. As you walk up
the garden you walk first past the 2 dog kennels that are recessed into and below the house. Them there is a larger
lawn. Beyond there , there is a whopping great selection of man made trials
obstacles for cyclo trials.Pallets , concrete pips , tyres, you name it , its
there , for Pol to practice on. And
…Pol was doing exactly that when I arrived.
As we walked over there Fransesc pointed to his 2 dogs. Spiker the timid Sausage dog and Sonic the crazy and lively English bull terrier. Wait a moment ........i had met Spiker before.
As many of you will know I interviewed Jordi Tarres last year . Youll find this interview HERE. I remember meeting this small little sausage dog down at Jordi’s . He would hang around the garage sniffing around and looking for food and a stroke as dogs do. The dog just hung around as if he lived there and I spoke about him with Jordi , so presumed he was Jordi’s. Looking down at my feel , here was the same hound again. I mentioned this Francesc and he explained. The sausage dog is named Spiker and and he just wanders around where ever he wasn’t to go. Rellinars is such a quiet place , with little traffic that the little dog just trots across the road to uncle Jordi’s for a mooch around and then pops back when he fancies it. He’s quite a cutie. The Tarres’s other dog is named Sonic and he is an English bull terrier. He looks a bit more intimidating but after an introduction he was friendly. They both live outside in special kennels under the house.

We then walked across the front garden to the rear garden. Fransesc chatted to his old National Service Army buddy, whom we had reunited him with for the day.
Fransesc was taking us to see Pol practice on the difficult garden trials course.
You can see the garden retaining wall to the right. You can also see Jordi Tarres's school to the left.
To watch Pol was amazing. He is an extremely strong and talented guy. The balance he has in incredible. I am used to watching videos of riders, but there is nothing to match seeing a talented rider up close like this. Pol said that he is working on his rear wheel hopping. This of course is necessary whilst riding the tough sections on the youth circuit.

The day I was here, was the day after the first round of the Spanish Championship. Pol stated that he was happy with his riding but he was always working to improve. He also told me that he didn't like no stop but it was the rules and he just had to get on with it. He said Fransesc
says only old people like no stop.
