6 - Exclusive Interview with ossa factory rider Albert Juvanteny

This is my wife’s town  1972 . I started to come here in 1972 .Half of it was a farm and the rest of it was an outbuilding/store. Here in this building was made the JP Trial motorcycle with my friend Quico Paya.

If we can , lets start before then.

Ok , I was born on 09-05-1953 in ‘La Cirera’. A house just over here. I bought this land and I grow cereals. I don’t live here but I come here every day.  When I rode the Scottish my friends always celebrate my birthday and give me a cake.

The first moto that I had was a Montesa. You can see me riding this Montesa in this photo.
I started with this Montesa in 1971. I did a couple of trials with them and then went to over to OSSA. It is not like today . With this motorbike I rode everything, trials and enduros, we only changed the plates!

It was after this short time with Montesa that i was given the opportunity to ride for the Ossa factory and i stayed with them longer than any other rider . I have work for many many years at OSSA from 1973/4- 1984.

I moved to Ossa at this time because the Ossa factory was, by far, the best factory of bikes in Spain. But at this time in all the factories, workers had breakfast and lunch with some wine. But this was normal situation

Although I started with Ossa in 1974 , Mick had already left the year before in 1973.  Looking at the photos.  I must have been 19. Without beard.

I was employed as a rider by the OSSA factory.  With OSSA we did a contract for two years. We came to an  agreement and they divide the amount of money in 12 months for each year and they gave me two bikes.  Moreover,  I got paid by the factory more money depending on the category of the races that I rode and achievements. At the end of season the two bikes were for me, removing any prototype parts, keeping it as a standard model , you could then sell them.

In the early 70's In 1980 and 81 i rode the as an anecdote, with Gorgot we did the championship, when Kiyoteru Hattory Japanese rider, he was in England (Europe) and used to travel a lot to Spain, he told us that came over to see a lot of factories and reported back to Honda.  (At that time the Spanish factories were very good).   He became very friendship of the catalan riders. When we travel, we carried some ham and he came with us because the ham. He loved it. Another time I took him here and hunted together.
Here are some more photos from the same period at the start of my riding carrer when i had just started for Ossa  and i was 19 years .
