a revealing Interview with Mecatecno and Montesa Rider
Ronald Garcia

Also I must say I do not like biggest possible, some people say he's a good person but for me now Miquel Cirera was a bad rider here for Montesa and then when he is a little bit older, anyone's money, he changes his position and stops riding and begins to work for the company. If you remember the Montesa 349, do you remember this, yes, well let me tell you, this bike is s*** . Miquel make this bike. Montesa say  to Miquel, you can design this new bike for this year and design this model 349 ha ha ha wow.
The Mk1 349 had a petrol tank with a vertical fuel level indicator moulded into the petrol tank. This tank was generally only available in Spain. The later model ditched the level in the tank and is shown in the photo beneath.

This was the Montesa with the visibility in the fuel tank, so you can see the fuel level. Miquel made this bike and then the second manager of the competition department, take the bike for a ride and decided it was not good. They then said that a good rider can never be a good manager of a competition department. Now I am disconnected from bikes and trials, my life is with horses only, sometimes I watch the television and see the Trial Indoors and I see Miquel Cirera on the television and I think how is it possible that Miquel Cirera  can be in this position for all of these years.

Montesa had no money and Mecatecno contact with me and asked me if I wanted to ride with them, I made a decision quickly to change to Mecatecno.

Who approached you from Mecateco ?

Jordi Rabassa approaches me at the trial competitions. I remember also speaking with Joan Ruiz at the end of the year of trial and they spoke with me about riding with Mecatecno, then go with them to the small factory which at this time was a little garage in Llica de Valles. From this time when I make an agreement to join Mecatecno, I travel to this factory everyday for 2 or 3 years.

Did you help at all within the factory to make the bikes or do you just ride ?

Mecatecno was a very experimental bike and when I started the other rider was Salvador Garcia (no relation).
