Mecatecno motorcycles

Mecatecno was started in 1979 by keen trials riders Jordi Rabassa , Angel Nieto's mechanic Joan Ruiz and designer Ramon Mira. All 3 left Derbi to start Mecatecno.

The company was formed to manufacture childrens motorcycles as there was a good market for them in Spain.
In 1981 Jordi Rabasa designed and build his first trials bike , the 180 cc prototype. In 1983 they designed and built the MR326 which is the green motorcycle in the above photo. This was ridden in the Trial World Championshio by Gabino Renales . The engine was entirely their own.

In 1987 the MR326 was superceded by the Dragonfly 326cc which is the above blue motorcycle. This trials machine was ridden for two years in the World trials championship by multiple Spanish Champion Lluis Gallach who won the Spanish 1987 World round .

In 1989 the Dragonfly was replaced by the Skywalker , which is the orange motorcycle to the left in the above photograph. This machine was produced for two years

Mecatecno produced Trials motorcycles in fairly small numbers ,however they were exported all around the World.

This is just a brief summary.
