Exclusive interview with Albert Callis - PXC development rider.  Manager to Renales. Minder to Eddy Lejeune + Lluis Gallach. Special behind the scenes fixer for GasGas. The untold story
Immediately prior to the 1987 Spanish World Trial. Lluis Gallach's smile would last, as he won the trial. Ignacio Vernada in the blue federation jacket was at this time the Spanish Federation manager, but is now the the secretary of the FIM.

Andrew and Gabi got along well but they just operated into separate teams. There was never any friction between them both, but they were absolutely different types of character so they prefer to go racing separately in different teams.

Also Andrew was very clever at the time creating another team with sponsorship from Ibiza and the Ibiza Island, it was a big time for him.

In order to prove himself Codina campaigned 1987, which was his first year with GasGas, for free. He was paid by sponsors, the most significant being the Ibiza island authorities.

Initially, I started as the team manager for Gabby, when I was minding for him also. Then when Andrew arrived and the decision was made and I just stayed with Gabi. I assisted Gabi at all of the races but there was no manager figure after Andrew arrived, there were no problems happening at this time, it's just that the whole situation was fluid.
