As Thierry has already made clear, his 303 was the prototype for the following years 305 model. The engine was moved forward by 20mm and the swinging arm was lengthened by the same amount to compensate. The chassis was designed specifically for Thierry to his specification and the frame and sump guard was lightened with by drilled holes. The forks were specially prepared by Marzocchi for Thierry's bike. One sanction operated the compression which the opposite tube operated the rebound. The brake disks were actually made of aluminium and then covered with a plating. This special bike was fitted with a Mikuni carburetor. Throughout the bike most screws are titanium or ergal. The cylinder is designed like the later Fantic 305 models and is designed for significantly more power in the mid and upper range. The cylinder was also designed much lighter than the standard. The exhaust is totally custom made and features a tighter curve to the front down tubes and can be seen to be completely different. The air filter is also custom made specifically for this bike and the later 305's. The bike is very powerful and must be driven by force, it is not so easy as a 305. It is probably tailored on Michaud's driving style. The footrest position is adjustable. The rear sub frame is aluminium but surprisingly the exhaust is steel. At competitions Michaud's bike weighed in at 84KG.
