Advertisements help to define an era. They show the fashions and what is popular at the time. They are a wonderful snapshot into popular culture of years gone by. As i wade through though through the magazines i come across adverts which are just as good and cool as anything you can find in any rider feature.
I love so of them so much that ive created this special little area of Retrotrials expecially for my favourite adverts - ENJOY :)
I have lots of bike adverts as well , but ill place those under the bikes section

Great Advertisements From The Retro Years
Some nice old importer adverts
And some more ... despite them being black and white and having pretty much no artwork , I bet they were still the equivalent of £500 a page .
Now some notable dealer adverts. Whilst the detail within was mostly ignored at the time its of real interest now.
For 5 times the price you can have a new bike today
How i lusted over one of these as a lad.

These little B and W TMX adverts contain great little nuggets of information. Someone couldnt cut the circle very well around the wheels. It was also before they could fill in between the spokes. Saying that , i cant even do it now :).

A nice Yamaha advert from back in the 70's. Can you see what they are assembling?.

The 250 Enduro seems to be styled on the Russian CZ 175 , almost exactly. I cant imagine them copying the OSSA . Peeps behind the iron curtain werent even allowed newspapers ,magazines or out of the country.

Now , if this isnt an exact copy of the then Suzuki DR600 ....i dont know what was !! :).
Judging by the amount of helmet adverts , there must have been a good mark up , or the market was flooded . One or the other.
Surely one of the best twinshocks ever made. Very nice to admire.
Camel projected their smokers as Indiana Jones types :). There are some more coming up so youll see what i mean :)
One of the last Ossa's and shunned by many. Untill i got told this by many people i rather liked it
What a picture . What a magazine !!!. Steve Saunders at Pateley Bridge watched carefully by Lluis Gallach and his minder Alvert Juvanty

I had to include this advert simply because of the huge lumps of chocolate glued to the front of the boot. No-one would get in your way , when you are wearing these :). £49 for 1986 was pretty expensive. Thank God for China to help bring prices down :).

The black and white press. When life was simple ;)
