page 7 Sascha Basler's 1987 Beta TR34 Trial restoration
There is no doubt about it . This restoration is very very good. The attention to detail with the bright red bar pad and standard as well as sponsor decals is great. Also you will see the horrible alloy boy race fuel cap has been thrown away and replaced with the original .
Nothing is over the top . It looks perfect. One query i have though is , does the gloss paint cope under the super intense heat . As many of us know heat resistant paint only comes in matt of Silk , not gloss. Perhaps this bike will not see much mud. The only problem now , is that this bike is to good to ride. Good job Sascha. |
Sascha doesnt agree. It must be ridden .Now , off to the woods to test the "New" Beta.
The riding gear and red Bull helmet look cool.
Nice moves. The bike looks spectacular.
I thought the bike would not be so different to a Beta Zero, but I was wrong.
The Zero is complete different.
Although many identic parts were used on the two bikes, you cannot compare the two bikes to each other.
So suddenly I could remember that I had the same impression back then as I was allowed to ride a brand new 1990 Zero. The Bike felt so much lighter and it was easyer to control because of the ergonomic position.
Obviously a reason that Jordi Tarres insisted to get the new Zero Proto against the will of Beta factory in 1989.
In spite of all that, the TR34 feels great and it makes a lot of fun to ride. I´m really looking forward to try out the bike on a warm day in spring on the practice area.
Now the bike can tell a new story to someone once upon the time.
For me it´s a great feeling to be on first name basis with every single screw.
Now I´m on the end and I hope you enjoyed my story like I did.
I will clean up my workshop now and turn off the lights.
I will switch them on soon for my next project. The Zero Prototype of ´89.
This will be the trickiest things I´ve ever tried. I will let you take part of it when I switch on the lights again.
