Over time and with increased workload the DID department needed more space, so Montesa set about building this seperate detached building 200 m², outside of the production hall. Over the years, the building was increased again massively to 500 m².
The department which was led by Pi officially already has engine testing rooms, a workshop, a design room, it's own offices and more. The department would use the main factory's technical drawing office and factory Purchasing Department.
It was here that the Impalla models and Cota models, were designed, tested and improved. It was also here that the factory riders would come to meet Pere and give feedback and also collect their machines.

The other side of the competition and development department.
40 people including mechanics, designers, technicians and management worked in the DID unit.
In total, Wild produced 11,000 and 23,000 trial and motocross motorcycles. These were sold to the domestic market as well as being exported around the World.
Strangely, Pere Permanyer had granted a special bonus of 100 pts or 0.60 Euro's to workers for every dirt bike and motocross sold. At the time of bankruptcy in 1983, the company owed over 2,000,000 pts or 12,000 Euros to workers in respect of 20,000 motorcycles sold.

Pere is pointing to a car park that once was the old Montesa testing track. The lower of the two kerbs in the second photo was the original test track that lead from the factory on the side of the access road to the test track which Pere is pointing to.
Where is Pere going ?
A better view.
