Jordi Tarres's actual 1989/1990 paddock jacket, next to Amos Bilbao's 1991 GasGas riding top.
Eddy Lejeune's actual Merlin jacket next to Steve Saunders Fantic riding top.
The line up.
Tommi Ahvala's 1991/2 riding top. To the right, 1985 Merlin Gallach DG 350 twinshock trials bike.
1990 Alfer TX 300 trial. There were only 50 of these made and none came into the UK. Bizarrely I met a nice guy, Alfer factory rider at the show, Craig Bounds. I'm not worthy :). This guy has started the Dakar 5 times and finished it 3 times. On one occasion he broke his back. He was so knowledgeable on Alfer, Enduro and the Dakar, I can't tell you.
He lives, breathes and sleeps bikes - you can tell :). It was great to meet him and hear what he had to say.

Craig Bounds: Craig was the first Welshman to finish the Dakar in 2009. He has competed at a Championship level in enduro and taken part in 7 6 day enduros and other extreme events around the world. He has a trials background and growing up in the Valleys he knows the mountains like the back of his hand. Craig has had many years coaching both enduro and trials up to an expert level and is currently 3 x British rally bike Champion |
1986 GasGas Halley. One of the first batch ever to be produced of this, the first GasGas ever. Whilst the prototype had both drum brakes, the first production models had a disc front brake. Never imported.
A very special Beta trial
Jordi Tarres's 1989 Garibaldi Beta suit- to the left. Jordi Tarres's Garibaldi 1991 Beta suit to the right.
Every bike fitted into the Catalan related category in some way and so it was fitting that it should be wrapped in Catalan flags :)
