The Bilbao house is very modern and very smart. It was converted and rebuilt from a house owned by Amos's father already on the site. Throughout the house there is lots of medium brown hardwoods and lots of light in the rooms and big windows. The kitchen is very large. Everything has been refitted. The stairs from the hallway head upstairs and half way up the stairs and greeting you as you enter the house is this huge photo. It was given to Amos by photographer Eric Kitchen to celebrate him winning the 2002 Scottish Six Days Trial.
As you can see, Amos's house is up on a hill surrounded by fields almost entirely. Amos rents some of the surrounding land to nearby farmers who graze dairy cows on the land. Amos's son John has become a real fan of the cows and is such a fan of them that when they walk around the supermarket shopping he likes to moo like a cow.
Ok, Amos did not cook the paella, his wife did this, but at this moment he was tending to it. I thought it was a good moment for a photo. Amos knows the hills in the distance well.
