page 2 Sascha Basler's 1987 Beta TR34 Trial restoration
As late as six weeks ago, I got new motivation to get the bike running.
Here are some more pictures of Sascha's Beta Tr34. To get this up to an excellent showroom standard , it was going to take a lot of time work and a little money.

The wheels were from a 1988 Merlin DG350 FIUS.
In the photo beneath you can see that some young teenager renovated the Beta with silver paint from an Aerosol can , with out removing the mud first. I guess many of us have done this :).
Everything on the Beta has the rust , tarnish and grime of old age.
Maria obviously would not come into the garage on this day , so Sascha had to use the vice to hold his Beta :)
That horrible clamp needs cutting off , and the frame needs stripping a full checking for cracks. They are not uncommon.

The brake system is really nasty. There is no material on the pads and i would think the whole caliper needs a lot of attention.
Ok , the frame is scratched , but it looks ok. You can see an extention has been fitted to the clutch lever to make the action lighter. All the fins are in great condition.
Sascha has removed the head and barrell to inspect the piston, rings bore and bearings. The Oil level bolt looks like a carpenters old coach bolt.
