page 2 2013 The best Amos Bilbao interview
When I was in Bilbao I telephoned Amos (confusing - hey?) as he had asked me to let him know this. Amos then asked me to call him know when I was 20 km from his home, so I did this as well. Amos then gave me instructions of exactly where to meet him. This was sounding like a chapter from Tinker tailor Soldier Spy !.
In fact all Amos wanted was to get the timing perfect so that the Paella would be amazing, the best it could be. I arrived a little early with Amos and met him on the roundabout by the dual carriageway. He was sitting in his silver pick up truck with the distinctive markings on the side of "1876 Estrella Damm Beer". After warm greetings, we followed him to his home.
This is the home of Amos Bilbao. The house is situated in the countryside in a beautifully elevated position. The land on 3 sides drops away from the house giving terrific views of the hills in the distance on all of these sides. It is only at the rear that the land rises slightly. The house is very quietly positioned and the only sound are the cows munching the grass..........and Amos's bikes and loud music :)

From the top of the long tarmac driveway we look back down. This home is idyllic. Look at those views. It is just like a little England here. The fields are green, the trees are lush and Amos says that it rains here ........ it rains a lot :).
As soon as we arrive we are greeted By Amos and his family and offered a nice cool beer and Amos tells me that he will talk more when he has had one, so I encourage him :)
We then meet the family Bibao's. Amos, of course with his wife Mercedes and his 3 year year old son John.

Mercedes and Amos have been together now for 7 years. Although working before John, Mercedes stays at home to look after John and take care of everything, apart from the bikes. John is a very keen and aspiring Trials rider. Here you can see him on one of his many learning cycles that is covered in his favourite stickers of Toni Bou.
A proud Dad watches his son perform for the camera. John gets a fair speed up downhill.

As John rides around Amos shouts for John to wheelie. John does this on demand every time. Like father like son.
Nice photo of Amos with his son John.
