August 2011. Just arrived back from Spain after a 3500 mile round trip through France. There are 4 bikes in there !
I bought this Alfer in the knowledge that it did not run. The dealer who started it , didnt mention it to me when I I spoke with him prior to my journey - git x 10 !.
This is the only Alfer Trials bike in the UK. I had a hard enough time sourcing Mecatecno spares. This will certainly be tougher .
Alfer motorcycles are very hard to come by. They didnt build many of them in the first place so 20 years later you can imagine how rare they are !
The Alfer in the garage prior to the strip down
The relatively unmarked sump shield showed it hadnt done a lot of work.
Its unabused and fairly original.
The spacer attached to the brake caliper wont clear the hub , therefore the rear brake pistons and pads have to be pushed back in to allow the rear wheel to be removed !
The Moto Villia engine. It was fitted to early GasGas trials bikes , but with a different capacity
The Alfer has some nice personalisations to it - like this ....
Asso have confirmed that pistons are no longer available , however KTM360 pistons can be made to work -phew !
