So what happened next ?
Lets hear direct from Felip himself
How much Investment did Alfer put in to the development involving Martin Clerch?
I don’t know.
How old were you?

Villa failed to deliver the watercooled engine they claimed to have ,and so Albert and Felipe modified the aircooled Villa engine to watercooled......but only one was ever made.

Did you ever visit the villa factory ?
Yes. I go with Juvanty to the Villa factory in Italy go to make the watercooled engine . We had spoken with the villan engine about a watercooled engine and they had told us that they have one for us , so we go there. When we arrive there is no watercooled engine there. They lie ha ha Thats a long way to travel on a lie Ha ha ha I have one Villa watercooled engine but this is one that we have modified Did you fabricate cylinder or did Villa do this ? No Villa no Bottom of the engine villa? Yes |
The bottom of the motor is villa but the cylinder is our work , we make.We put it here and we modified it, and we made one using laminates and cast it.
Is this one it ?
Yes
Wow , this is it . This is the engine
Yes
It was standard and we make the changes and modifications to the vila engine here
We modify the crank shaft and the pistons to make a good watercooled engine but this engine did not make it to production. It was just a prototype. It was only a test for us to work .

After the disappointing visit to Villa Alfer contacted the engine builder Rotax.
We came back and the factory wanted to build a new engine. They contacted Rotax, it was the engine that was used for enduro but when we tried it for trials it didn’t work.
And then we contacted rotax to modify the engine for trials and at the beginning they didn’t want to do it because the engine that they had was a world championship winning engine with a rotary valve. But we insisted then we went with Juventeny to Austria, and we were with the engineer Coronya we worked with them and they did everything that we asked of them and in the end they said Chapau. (It means, I take my hat off to you, well done!)We stayed there for one week.
We modified this engine, in brackets, ourselves (in association with rotax) . The trial engine was modified from the enduro.
The Rotax engine was narrow and fitted well into the box section steel chassis .In the meantime fibreglass panels and tanks were being created for the prototype.
Which is the 1st Alfer prototype ?
Number one is upstairs in the roof ha ha ha ha ha. It is disassembled .The first frame is in the roof . The 2nd is here.
Is the first motorcycle up in the roof complete.
No .The chassis resembles the Montesa little
Si , yes it’s the same , a copy ha ha ha ha ha ha
I can see the similarity between the Montesa and also the first liquid cooled GasGas as well .Me and Albert make many test of this bike and make many changes.

The 2nd Alfer prototype with Felip Gonzalez and Albert Juvanty
The 2nd prototype had the excellent engine Rotax engine which Felip , Albert and rotax had developed from an enduro engine , but they were not happy with the chassis.
