The factory Mecatecno Dragonfly of Joan Ruiz
The original Mecatecno Dragonfly brochure , given to me Jordi Rabassa.
Joan's bike
Motoplat electronic ignition. Original blue Iris chain
To obtain a satin blue heat resistant finish on an engine is very very difficult. Even the kick start was designed by Mecatecno.
The paintwork on the tank is the most extravigant and luxurious i have seen on a trials bike. The colour is so deep. It was all contracted out by the factory of course. it would have been impossible to paint to high standards like this in a normal workshop.
Wheels by Nagesti , who were later absorbed into Akront. The seat pops off with no tools to reveal the airbox.
The front forks are superb. They were made by the Spanish company "Ideal". Many aluminium anodized parts.
All parts can be found for the Mecatecno. Certain people in Spain have everything most things . Everything else is generic or can be repaired.
The Mecatecno Dragonfly . In my opinion the most desirable retro trials bike in the World.
The creator Jordi Rabassa was at the Spanish World Trial back in 1987 following Lluis Gallach. He looked up the section to see Gallach's Dragonfly parked up with the sun beaming on it.....and he cried . It was the most wonderful thing he had ever seen.
